從小學三年級開始向李老師學習英文，已過了近十個年頭。我的英文能力，可說是由李老師(最Smart、最有主見的李老師)和邱老師(a humorous gentleman)從平坦的荒原，以知識為根基、以耐心滋養，堆砌而成。

　　記得小三時，李老師要求我們熟記字構規則和kk音標。因為有強烈的堅持，真慶幸我有配合，現在當我看到陌生的單字，絕大都能精確的唸出，並快速背起。從基礎的發音、單字到文法，李老師紮實的教學內容都能讓我將英文法內化，轉為直觀。

　　我並沒有花許多時間準備英文。學英文不外乎就是背單字、記文法和熟悉語感。前兩項我都能藉由完成李老師指派的作業學習。在此之外，我喜歡在家大聲朗讀英文課本、雜誌、小說，（無論是經典文學或是網路小說，而且，alas！英國網站的Harry Potter同人小說寫得真是好，語法也更接近English native speaker，更實用），同時也模仿電影中的腔調（英國腔，就算他們說討厭你也很好聽～^^）習慣了英文的語感，無論是閱讀或書寫，甚至聽和講都有很大的助益。

　　跟隨李老師學習最愉快的時光，是進入高中階段開始練習作文寫作（噢，作文可是李老師的強項！）老師每週給我們新的作文題目讓我們回去發揮，隔週老師會收回和外籍老師一同批改。每個禮拜我都花時間在這上面。一開始需要下許多功夫和時間構思，事後都證明這些努力非常值得！但是只要肯動筆，就會有成果。累積了許多小小的成果及老師的鼓勵，就能寫出流利的語句，縮短時間。

　　「要如何表達我的思想、豐富文章內容、讓讀者能夠從我的essay學到新的東西？」這是每每我拿到題目的第一個想法。作文訓練的不只是英文能力，更是腦力激盪。李老師常常在課堂朗讀大家的作品，不僅讓我感到自信，更讓我得到不同的意見。這些都有助於養成觀察的事也和邏輯思辨。英文寫作已不再是應付考試的工具，而是我的興趣。

　　高中三年即將過去。從國中、高中，到現在準備學測和指考，英文從來都不是我的困擾。我感激李老師為我免去了這些負擔，更感激老師引領我、啟蒙我進入英文的領域，西方知識的殿堂，並且給予我這麼好的環境。高中即將畢業，也許再也無法持續向李老師學習，但何需悲傷？老師為我們開啟的這扇門和未知，是足夠讓我一輩子去探討的，我所曾向老師學習取得的，也是一輩子可用的。

Saying "Thank you” and "I am sorry".

I think that saying "Thank you" and "I'm sorry" is a basic thing. Just elementary like saying "I want to go to a toilet." If you feel thankful then you can say "Thank you" or "Thanks." On the same way , in case of apologize to someone , you can say "I'm sorry" or "Pardon me."
Although it is very easy , it plays am important role in our daily life. In the event of not say those , people may feel you are impolite , because of that it is an emblem of polite. Perhaps you met a person who you don't kown , the word "sorry" or "thanks" may leave a good impression. Moreover , saying "Thank you" with a little smile can add a sense of kind.
In sum , "Thank you" and "I'm sorry" can make your life better. Try it!

I thought your composition was very well written. Make sure that when you type you do not put a space in between a word and the punctuation mark that follows. Also remember that the words “polite” and “kind” are adjectives, and that to derive the noun form you would add the suffix of “ness”. Good job!

Remember that the word “those” and “these” modify nouns in the plural form, as in “those words” or “these ideas.” Also, remember to use punctuation marks such as commas to add pauses in your sentences and avoid run-on sentences.

When is the best time for a child to start learning a foreign language?

Most people believe that learning a language - mother tongue or foreign - should start as early as possible. Little children pick up whatever language they hear, and speak it naturally without knowing whether it is a native or foreign language. They don't have to distinguish the difference or analyze sentence patterns. They just speak it for the sole purpose of communication. Therefore, the best time for a child to learn a language is when he/she starts to talk. However, for non-native English speaking children, it is hard for them to get that kind of English speaking environment. Hence, they have to go to school to receive formal, systematic education so that they can learn efficiently in a short time.

"Why can't my son/daughter speak English? He/She has been learning it for two years."

This is a very common question I receive quite often. To EFL students, the biggest hurdle in learning English lies not in memorize vocabulary, but in communication - listening and speaking. And the one and only solution to this problem is to provide a total English environment - from classroom to living room. This calls for a co-learning including teachers, classmates, parents, and brothers/sisters. When everybody is learning at the same time, the biggest hurdle will then disappear.

Learning should be a fun process. When learning is integrated with interesting activities, learners are more motivated. As a result, the outcome is much more efficient and fruitful. This is particularly true to younger learners. When you see every little face wearing a big smile, you know they are truly enjoying learning.

I have a two-year-and-five month old granddaughter who came to visit me from Miami last summer. We had a great vacation in both Malaysia and Taiwan. She talked a lot, though I couldn't fully understand what she was talking about. One thing for sure is that she likes to express what is in her mind. This reminds me that learning a language - native or foreign - starts in an early age, and what she heard is what she learned. In a short two week's stay, she coould say 'thank you' and 'how are you' in Chinese accurately. It amazed me a lot.
